Dependants of Turkish ECAA nationals

This section explains how you can apply for permission to remain in the UK if you are a family member (dependant) of a Turkish national who is established in business or working here under the provisions of the European Community Association Agreement (ECAA) with Turkey.

A dependant is the husband, wife, civil partner, unmarried partner, same-sex partner or child of a person who has valid permission to be in the UK under the ECAA.

There are 2 ways of applying to extend your permission to remain as a dependant:

  • a Turkish ECAA worker or Turkish ECAA businessperson can include their dependent(s) on their own application form (form ECAA 1 for employed workers or form ECAA 2 for businesspersons); or
  • the dependant can apply separately using application form ECAA 3 Turkish Dependant.

If you are not lawfully present in the UK when the application is made, you may be penalised.

The Documents required page lists the evidence that you should send to support your application. The Applying page explains how to apply using application form ECAA 3.

If you are applying separately for settlement, you will need to meet the requirements for coming to join a person living permanently in the UK.

More information

  • What is my immigration status while my application is being decided? If you make an application before your authorised stay ends, your existing immigration status will continue until your application is decided, even if the decision is not made until after the end of your permitted stay. You can continue to work until your case is decided if the conditions of your existing leave allows you to do so.
