Refusals

This section explains how you can appeal against our decision if we refuse your application as a sportsperson under Tier 2 Sportsperson of the points-based system to work in the UK.

If you applied from outside the UK: administrative review

If you have unsuccessfully applied for a visa from outside the UK, you have a right to an administrative review of the refusal. This review is free of charge. You can find more information on the Administrative review page.

You must request the administrative review no more than 28 calendar days after the date when the refusal notice was issued.

You can only ask for 1 administrative review for each application that we refuse. You should not send any additional documents with your request for a review.

If you applied from inside the UK

If we refuse your application to extend your stay in the UK, you may have the statutory right to appeal against our decision. We will write to you explaining why we have refused your application and what you can do, including any right to appeal.

We will not accept an appeal unless you have a right to appeal.

If you have a right of appeal, we will send you full details of your rights and an appeal form, which you will need to complete and return to us.
