Tier 2 (Intra company transfer)
Documents required
This page explains what proof dependants (spouses or civil partners, unmarried or same-sex partner or child) must provide of their available maintenance (funds) to support an application for permission to stay as the dependant of someone who is here under the intra-company transfer category (Tier 2 Intra-company transfer) of the points-based system to work in the UK.
On this page
- Letter from the main applicant's sponsor
- Personal bank or building society statements covering the 3 months before applying
- Building society passbook covering the 3 months before applying
- Letter from bank confirming funds and that they have been in your account for three months before applying
- Letter from a financial institution regulated by the Financial Services Authority confirming funds
Full details of these requirements are in the immigration rules at Appendix E, which you can find on the right of this page. You must read the policy guidance before you apply under this category. You can download the guidance and application form from the Applying section.
The evidence can relate specifically to the dependant or it can include evidence for the main applicant which has not been used as evidence of funds on the main applicant's own application or that of other dependants.
Dependants must send one or a combination of the following:
Letter from the main applicant's sponsor
If the migrant's A-rated sponsor says they will maintain and accomodate the migrant and dependant until the end of the first month of the migrant's employment in the UK, you must send a letter from them which confirms this.
Personal bank or building society statements covering the 3 months before applying
The personal bank or building society statements should clearly show:
- the name of the main applicant and/or the family member making the application, or (for children only) the name of their other parent who is in the UK;
- the account number;
- the date of the statement;
- the financial institution's name and logo;
- transactions covering the 3 month period;
- that there are enough funds present in the account for the past 3 months.
If you want to send electronic bank statements from an online account these must contain all of the details listed above. You must also send a supporting letter from your bank, on company headed paper, confirming the statements are genuine.
Statements which only show the balance in the account on a particular day are not enough.
Building society passbook covering the 3 months before applying
The building society passbook should clearly show:
- the name of the main applicant and/or the family member making the application, or (for children only) the name of their other parent who is in the UK;
- the account number;
- the financial institution's name and logo;
- transactions covering the 3 month period;
- that there are enough funds present in the account for the past 3 months.
Letter from bank confirming funds and that they have been in your account for three months before applying
The letter from a bank or building society should state:
- the name of the main applicant and/or the family member making the application, or (for children only) the name of their other parent who is in the UK;
- the account number;
- the date of the letter;
- the financial institution's name and logo;
- the funds held in your account; and
- that the funds have been in bank for at least 3 months and are at least the amount needed.
We will not accept letters which just show the balance in the account on a particular day as these documents do not show that you hold enough funds for the full 3 months.
Letter from a financial institution regulated by the Financial Services Authority confirming funds
The letter from a financial institution regulated by the Financial Services Authority should state:
- the name of the main applicant and/or the family member making the application, or (for children only) the name of their other parent who is in the UK;
- the account number;
- the date of the letter;
- the financial institution's name and logo;
- the funds held in your account; and
- that the funds have been in your bank for at least 3 months and are at least the amount needed.
We will not accept letters which just show the balance in the account on a particular day as these documents do not show that you hold enough funds for the full 3 months.
