Tier 1 (Graduate entrepreneur)
Conditions of your stay
This page explains how long you can stay in the UK under Tier 1 (Graduate entrepreneur) of the points-based system, and sets out the conditions of your stay here.
While you are here:
- you will have no access to state benefits or other public funds; and
- you must not be employed as a doctor or dentist in training or as a professional sportsperson (including as a sports coach).
You must register with the police if:
- your total stay in the UK will be more than 6 months; and
- you are a national of a country listed in Appendix 2 of the Immigration Rules.
You will not be allowed to enter or stay in the UK if your endorsing body withdraws your endorsement.
How long can you stay?
If you successfully apply for a visa under Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur), you can come here for 1 year. Towards the end of this period, you must apply to extend your stay if you want to continue to stay in the UK.
If you successfully apply to extend your stay under Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur), we will give you permission to stay for a further 1 year.
You will not be allowed to stay in the UK if your endorsing body:
- loses its status as an endorsing institution for Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) migrants;
- loses its highly trusted status under Tier 4 of the points-based system (for whatever reason);
- ceases to be an A-rated sponsor under Tier 2 or Tier 5 of the points-based system because its Tier 2 or Tier 5 sponsor licence is downgraded or revoked by us; or
- withdraws your endorsement.
Settling in the UK
You cannot apply for settlement in the UK under the Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) category.
