Letter of endorsement

This page explains the letter of endorsement. You will need to request a letter of endorsement from your UK higher education institution before you make your application under the Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) category.

Before you apply, you must read the Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) policy guidance, which you can find on the right side of this page. The policy guidance is based on Part 6A of the Immigration Rules.

You will need to apply directly to your UK higher education institution or UK Trade and Investment for a letter of endorsement. Details of these approved institutions, can be downloaded from the right side of this page.

You must use the endorsement letter as part of your application within 3 months of the date of issue.

Initial application

The letter of endorsement must confirm that the authorised UK higher education institution or UK Trade and Investment has assessed you and your business idea and that you have a genuine and credible business idea, and you will spend the majority of your working time on developing business ventures.

Extension application

The letter of endorsement must confirm that you have made satisfactory progress in developing your business since your leave was granted.

Endorsement letter template

The endorsement letter must be an original document provided by the UK higher education institute or UK Trade and Investment and not a copy.
