Visiting examiners and assessors
This page contains information about documents that may help to support your application to come to the UK as a visiting examiner or assessor undertaking a permitted paid engagement.
You must provide a copy of your invitation from a higher education institution, arts or research organisation to examine UK students. Activities can include:
- marking papers;
- moderating marking;
- attending exam boards;
- drafting reports; and/or
- attending clinical skills examinations or vivas; and/or
- participating in or chairing a selection panel.
The invitation must show:
- that you have been chosen to carry-out the activity because of your skills or expertise;
- how the engagement links to the venue; and
- how long the engagement is for.
You must provide evidence that the engagement relates to your expertise and/or qualifications, and full-time profession overseas. For example, you may wish to provide publications by you in your particular field of expertise or a letter from your employer confirming where you work and your area of expertise.
