Adult students - Tier 4 (General)

Evidence used to obtain your confirmation of acceptance for studies

This page explains what you need to send us as evidence in order to score 30 points under Tier 4 (General) of the points-based system.

You will score 30 points for having a valid confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS). When you apply, you must:

  • write your CAS reference number on your application form - your Tier 4 sponsor will give you the reference number; and
  • send us the documents you used to obtain the CAS. These documents are described under 'More information' below.

All applicants must provide an ATAS certificate with their Tier 4 application if they are required to obtain one (see More information below). This applies even if we consider you 'low risk' (see Documents required page for more details of this).

If we consider that you are 'low risk', you must confirm on your application form that you meet the requirements set out here and that you hold the required documents. We reserve the right to request any or all of these documents, and we will refuse your application if you do not provide them. The Documents required page explain which Tier 4 (General) applicants are considered to be 'low risk'.
