Refusals

This section explains how you can appeal against our decision, if we have refused your application to enter or remain in the UK as the husband, wife or civil partner of a British citizen or a person settled here.

If you applied from outside the UK, you have a full right of appeal. When we refuse your application, we will give you a letter explaining why we have refused it and explaining how to appeal.

If you applied from inside the UK, you might have a statutory right of appeal. When we refuse your application, we will write to you giving our reasons and explaining what you can do. If you have a right of appeal, we will give you full details of your rights and a form which you can use to make an appeal.
