Introducing compulsory identity cards for foreign nationals
Identity cards for foreign nationals will replace the existing stickers and other insecure United Kingdom immigration status documents which have been subject to fraud in the past. The stand-alone card will have a chip which holds a digitised photograph and fingerprints, alongside biographical information.
The publication 'Introducing compulsory identity cards for foreign nationals' sets out when and how identity cards will be introduced.
