Manchester airport terminal 2 - enrolment room is closed
Until further notice the IRIS enrolment room at Manchester Airport Terminal 2 is closed. We will post further updates on this webpage as details become available. We apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause.
Gatwick airport South terminal - restricted IRIS barrier use
From 23 March, until further notice, British Airports Authority (BAA) will be carrying out works to re-furbish the immigration arrivals hall at Gatwick South. This will have an impact on the availability of the IRIS barrier. Notices will be displayed in the arrivals hall when the barrier is not available for use and procedures will be put in place to direct IRIS users to the front of the queue at immigration passport control.
To register, you need to visit an IRIS enrolment room. These rooms are in the departure areas of the 10 airport terminals listed below. You will have to pass through the airport security checks to reach the IRIS room, so you can only register when you are departing from the United Kingdom on a flight from one of these airports.
You do not have to register at every airport terminal. Once you are registered, you can use the IRIS barriers at any of the United Kingdom airport terminals where they are installed.
The list below tells you where each IRIS enrolment room is and its usual opening times. All our IRIS enrolment rooms are open seven days a week including public holidays.
Heathrow terminal 1: 0630 to 1830, on the right before you reach the shops.
Heathrow terminal 2:
Closed until further notice.
Heathrow terminal 3: 0800 to 1830, and 1900 to 2030, opposite the BAA security desk, before you reach the duty free shops.
Heathrow terminal 4: 1000 to 1645, between gates 3 and 4 (follow the signs to gates 1 to 6).
Heathrow terminal 5: 0730 to 1930, on the departure level of the main building 5A near the VAT desk and on your right as you approach Southern Security.
Manchester terminal 1: 0615 to 1200, near gate 20.
Manchester terminal 2:
Closed until further notice.
Gatwick North: 0730 to 1330, turn right as you enter the departure lounge and follow the signs for gates 59 to 63. The IRIS room is at the bottom of the spiral ramp.
Gatwick South: 0730 to 1330, at gate 90 (follow the signs for gate 95). Refurbishment to take place from 23 March 2009, see details above.
Birmingham terminal 1: 0800 to 1200 and 1500 to 2000, on the left of the departure ramp before you reach gate 56.
We will do our best to have the IRIS rooms open at these times, but cannot guarantee it. Occasionally, we may need to close the enrolment room at short notice if we need the staff to work at the border control in the arrivals hall.
