Fishing vessels

This page explains how we will communicate about e-Borders with owners of fishing vessels that make international journeys, and when we plan to implement e-Borders in this industry sector.

We have already started to communicate with the fishing industry via the Sea Fish Industry Authority, the Marine and Fisheries Agency, Marine Scotland, and representative bodies including the National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations, The Scottish Fishermen's Federation, the Anglo-Northern Irish Fish Producers Organisation and the Shellfish Association. We have exhibited and attended the Fishing Show and intend to do so in the future. Beyond this we will be holding regional stakeholder events to permit more detailed discussion of the e-Borders scheme in the context of the industry.

e-Borders will be implemented in the fishing sector from 2011 onwards. We actively seek to engage with and listen to members of the fishing industry and ensure that the solutions and processes we implement are workable and secure. To make this possible, we need your input and we need to make use of your experience and knowledge so that e-Borders works for us and works for you.

In the meantime, please email us at ebct@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk if you have any queries or suggestions that would help us to secure our border.
