Victims of torture

This page explains where you can find special help if you are an asylum applicant who has been the victim of torture.

If you have been tortured, you may need extra support, and there are organisations that can help you.

The Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture and the Helen Bamber Foundation are registered charities that can offer you:

  • medical and social care;
  • practical help; and
  • psychological and physical therapy to help you return to health physically and mentally.

If you feel you need help from one of these organisations, your legal representative or nearest One Stop Service can put you in contact with them.
