Racial harassment

This page explains what racial harassment is and what help you can get if you experience it or see it happening.

Racial harassment is anything unwelcome or hostile that is done because of someone's race. This may be threats (either spoken or physical) or violence.

If you are a victim of this, or are afraid you will be a victim, the UK Border Agency will help and protect you. We will also help anyone who sees these things happening and wants to report them.

If you receive asylum support and are in housing arranged by the UK Border Agency, you should report racist behaviour to the person or organisation that provides your housing.

We take racist behaviour seriously. If it is committed by an asylum applicant who receives asylum support and is living in housing arranged by the UK Border Agency, the person who provides that housing will inform the police and the applicant's case owner.

If an asylum applicant is accused of racist behaviour and this is proved, we may take away any asylum support he/she receives.
