European Integration Fund - list of funded projects 2008

Following a call for proposals in January 2009, eleven projects were selected for funding from the 2008 European Integration Fund (EIF) allocation to the United Kingdom. Seven further projects continued to receive the following successful bids in the 2007 call for proposals. The European Commission requires us to publish a list of the successful projects.

Project will provide tailored ESOL provision which enables participants to flexibly learn critical new second language skills which are geared to support employment, continued learning or advanced performance where already in employment.

The project will build citizenship through acquisition and practice of English language skills and achievement of a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification.

It will take specific account of vulnerable groups - particularly women, young people, people with low levels of literacy, on low incomes and lacking language/work skills.

This will include establishing a beneficiaries stakeholder forum to inform the development of the programme and disseminate findings into the wider community hence ensuring future sustainability.

Major overhaul of development and implementation of UK's admission procedures for third country nationals.

Will deliver against UKBA's strategic objective to boost the UK economy and ensure the right migrants have the tools and skills to integrate quickly into UK society.
