Calls for proposals - European Refugee Fund and European Integration Fund
Calls for proposals for the European Refugee Fund (ERF) 2010 and European Integration Fund (EIF) 2010 opened on 11 February 2011. A further call for proposals for the ERF 2011, which relates to the Gateway Protection Programme, opened on 10 March.
This page describes the European Fund for the Integration of Third Country Nationals, also known as the European Integration Fund (EIF), and how you can apply for funding. The EIF is a European Commission fund that started in 2007, it will run until 31 December 2013 and is planned over 2 separate 3-year funding periods.
The EIF is aimed at newly arrived legal migrants (known as 'third country nationals') who:
- have arrived in the UK within the last 5 years; and
- are not asylum seekers, refugees or European Economic Area (EEA) nationals; and
- have not come to the UK in a temporary visa category (for example, as a student).
The EIF is one of 3 EU migration funds (known collectively as the 'solidarity and management of migration flows') that the UK takes part in. The others are the European Refugee Fund and the European Return Fund.
The UK receives an annual allocation from the EIF, which it then administers according to the strict rules set by the European Commission. Note that all figures contained in the Multi-Annual Programme are estimated and are subject to change. The division of the funding to the EIF priorities may also change depending on the changing situation at UK and EU level.
