The transparency section of the Home Office business plan lists the Border Force, Visas and Immigration and Immigration Law Enforcement's key input and impact indicators, and our business plan covers them in more detail. Input indicators show the full costs of these activities. Impact indicators measure the extent to which policies and activities are having the effect we intend.
Information on passenger clearance standards, costs per passenger at the border and annual level of tax revenue protected for 2011-12 is available on the Border Force GOV.UK web page under the section "our Statistics".
Input indicators
- Cost per passenger processed at the border
- Cost per decision for all permanent and temporary migration applications.
Impact indicators
- Net migration to the UK (information published on the Office for National Statistics website)
- Annual level of tax revenue that is protected through detecting goods where excise duty has not been declared
- Clearance of passengers at the border within published standards
- Percentage of migration applications decided within published standards
- Percentage of asylum applications concluded in one year.
